Aurora builds on healthcare boom

Aurora builds on healthcare boom

Everything's shipshape and Bristol fashion for design and project management consultants the Aurora Partnership (Aurora), who have just moved in to a new harbourside premises at The Point.

The practice, which provides a range of professional services to organisations in the healthcare sector, has more than tripled its office space after purchasing the freehold for the 1800 sq ft unit for £375,000.

The move follows a string of contract wins for Aurora , whose clients include Leonard Cheshire Foundation, Bentleigh Cross, Riversway Care, Healthcare at Home and Castlebeck Care, part of the Barchester Group.

Director Martyn Garbutt said: "With its panoramic views of the harbour and ships such as the Matthew regularly sailing past, The Point makes a fantastic place to work."

Previously based at Berkeley Square , Aurora was established in 2004 by directors Andy Knowles and Martyn Garbutt. The team was joined by a third director, Stephen Boulton, in 2005.

"With an ageing population, the social healthcare sector is an area which has seen massive growth in recent years and this looks set to continue," explains Martyn.

"We've worked on a whole range of schemes up to the value of £15 million, from redeveloping nursing homes to project managing the construction of orthopaedic operating theatres."

Recent contract wins for Aurora include work for a £6 .5 million project to redevelop a nursing home in Rhos on Sea, North Wales for Southern Partnerships and the design and construction management of a 24-bed Independent Hospital in North Bristol .

Martyn adds: "Our expertise lies in enhancing property portfolios of healthcare providers, in some cases we've managed to almost double the value the original asset by maximising the use of available space. In many ways our work represents the forefront of current thinking in healthcare provision."

Andrew Hardwick, director of Clifton chartered surveyors, Williams Gunter Hardwick, represented the owners, Mr and Mrs G Wilson, in the property deal. Following the sale, Williams Gunter Hardwick have been appointed by Aurora as letting agents to market a self-contained office unit at its new premises.

Andrew said: "The Point is one of Bristol 's most iconic waterfront buildings and it is rare to find available office space in such a prime location. The site not only boasts fantastic harbourside views and plenty of parking, but is only a short distance away from the city's main commercial district."

"Furthermore, the recently announced plans for the Great Western Dockyard put The Point at the heart of a vibrant development area, one which is going to experience a major transformation over the next five years," said Andrew.

The 300 sq ft unit is situated to the rear of The Point building and available on a flexible short-term lease at £25/sq ft, inclusive of service charges. For more information, contact Andrew Hardwick on: 0117 922 1222.

It was announced earlier this month that the £35 million redevelopment of the Great Western Dockyard, comprising 145 apartments and an education centre, is to proceed, securing the future of the SS Great Britain.  QuADA Bristol has also secured planning permission to redevelop the former MacArthurs warehouse for offices and flats, nearby in Gasferry Road .
